Thornton (born 1960s) is an American organizational theorist, and Visiting Associate Professor of Sociology at Texas A&M University as well as Adjunct Associate Professor of Business Administration at the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University. She was also Visiting Associate Professor at Stanford University's Department of Sociology.〔 In 2015 Thornton became Visiting Associate Professor of Sociology at Texas A&M University where she currently teaches "The Social Science of Entrepreneurship."
